FIREFIGHTERS from across East Dorset tackled a combine harvester blaze in Witchampton this evening.
Crews from Cranborne, Wimborne, Poole and Ferndown fought the fire, which involves the machinery and 100 square metres of a field of cut straw.
Foam and hoses were used to quench the flames.
A spokesperson from the Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said crews will inspect the field again later this evening and possibly in the morning to ensure it won't reignite.
Later, the service said that the cause of the fire was thought to be mechanical.
The harvester was destroyed.
