THE unauthorised traveller encampment at Poole’s Sterte Esplanade has been served with an eviction notice.

Borough of Poole officers secured the notice in court yesterday afternoon, then promptly served it on the three caravans at the site.

Once served the travellers have 24-hours to leave the area.

Yesterday, borough environmental and consumer protection team manager Jeff Morley confirmed: “An officer attended court this afternoon where an eviction order was granted for all the vans currently at Sterte Esplanade.

“This order was served this afternoon, after which the group has 24-hours to leave the site.”

Mr Morley also said that following the travellers’ departure the site will be cleaned, but they expect this clean-up to be minimal as the area has been kept in good condition.

“Officers have regularly visited the site and were satisfied it was being kept clean and tidy and the group made use of the temporary toilets and skip provided,” he said.
