THE mighty Vulcan is ready to wow the crowds of Bournemouth.
That’s the message from Dr Robert Pleming, chief executive of the charity that operates the Cold War bomber, the Vulcan to the Sky Trust.
Following work to its wings, carried out by Beagle Aerospace in Christchurch, the legendary plane, which played a key role in The Falklands War and other conflicts, is set to fly until the end of the 2015 season.
Dr Pleming said: “We’re planning to be here on Saturday, all things being possible.
“The weather looks good and the aircraft is serviceable, so I’m entirely optimistic we will be here at 4pm on Saturday afternoon. We’ve changed the way that we’re operating the aircraft to take into account the restricted life.
“I would advise everybody to come and see her in the next 12 months.”
The Vulcan is always a big crowd-pleaser when it comes to Bournemouth and the crowds will be doubly excited this year after it was grounded in 2013 with technical problems.
Dr Pleming added: “It’s a lovely place for us to display and there are enormous crowds, obviously.”
