A 21-year-old motorcyclist has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital after a crash in Bournemouth.
The incident happened on Wallisdown Road between the Alder Road roundabout and Alton Road.
The crash also involved a white van being driven by a local man in his 40s.
Seargent Stuart Pitman said the motorcyclist suffered life-changing but not life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for several hours and motorists are being urged to avoid the area - however, shortly before 6pm, police reopened the stretch.
Previously, a diversion had been in place, with buses diverted at Boundary Road and traffic down Alton Road.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or either vehicle prior to the crash to call 101.
