BOURNEMOUTH Air Festival’s first Artist in Residence has presented his stunning painting to Mayor of Bournemouth Cllr Chris Mayne.

Entitled ‘WOW’, David Bent’s work shows the world-famous Red Arrows performing a spectacular display over Bournemouth Pier.

Two of the team’s most famous moves – the heart-stopping Gypo break and the iconic Vixen break – are depicted in the painting, which goes on show in Bournemouth library this week.

David, who presented the painting at the festival’s official ‘thank you’ party, said: “It was difficult for me to choose a subject with so much going on but in the end I plumped for the brilliant RAF Red Arrows who, in their 50th anniversary display season, wowed the crowds every day and gave everyone so much pleasure and excitement.

“I cannot wait till next year’s event.”

Councillor Lawrence Williams, Tourism Portfolio Holder, said: “The finished artwork is just fantastic – he’s certainly captured the Festival’s colour, creativity, vibrancy and unique atmosphere.”

‘WOW’ will be on display at the Bournemouth Library, The Triangle for four weeks until it moves to other public spaces.
