THERE are good reasons why not all road crossings in Bournemouth make an audible noise, a councillor has been told.
Cllr John Adams said people with sight problems had raised worries with him over the lack of ‘bleeps’ on some crossings. He asked whether all crossings could have them so that the visually-impaired could be helped.
Cllr David Smith, answering for transport cabinet member Cllr Michael Filer, said crossings had audible bleeps or tactile ‘cones’, which are fixed under the button and rotate when it is safe to cross.
But, he said, some junctions are not suitable for bleeps because they had more than one crossing and could cause confusion.
