BLOOD stains found at the home of a Poole nurse alleged to have been murdered by her husband were 'one billion times more likely' to have come from her than anyone else, a court has heard.

Crime Scene Investigators visited the home of Rui Li and Pierre Legris in Burnham Drive, Bournemouth, after the mother-of-one was reported missing to police on Tuesday, May 27 2014.

Using specialist equipment, the officers allegedly discovered small areas of blood staining on a blind, a wall and the kitchen tap, the court heard.

While the blood on the wall was matched to Pierre Legris' DNA, the samples taken from the blind and the tap are one billion times more likely to be Rui Li's than anyone else's, jurors heard.

Giving evidence, forensic scientist Hugh Turk said he had been unable to tell when or how the blood was deposited.

Kaly Kaul, representing Pierre Legris, said that as the DNA cannot be aged, the blood may have been deposited "quite separately [to the allegations] for completely innocent reasons".

Mr Turk and his team had also analysed a black plastic sheet which had been found wrapped around the body of Ms Li and fixed in place with straps.

He said the sheet was "heavily blood stained" and had a hole in it "due to being dragged over the ground while weighed down".

The witness also said that the blood found inside the sheet had run in different directions, meaning that it had been moved while it was still wet.

He said: "I cannot tell anything with regard to Rui Li having been assaulted while on the sheet or breathing blood while on it.

"I cannot tell if she was dead or alive when she first came into contact with the sheet."

Ms Li's body was discovered in the boot of a car parked in Verwood Crescent on Friday, May 30.

She had sustained a significant injury to the back of her head.

Pierre Legris, 61, of Burnham Drive, denies murder but admits bigamy.

His first wife Irene Smith, 66, of St Clement's Road, denies conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of perverting the course of justice.

Their son Jonathan Legris, 27, of Spring Road, denies conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender.

The trial at Winchester Crown Court continues.
