TRAFFIC was delayed this lunchtime after a car burst into flames close to Bournemouth Airport.
Firefighters from Ferndown were sent to the scene at Parley Lane, between the entrance to the airport and Hurn.
The car, a Mercedes, was left badly damaged in the blaze, which happened at around 12.20pm.
The road was shut at the height of the incident as flames shot high into the sky.
Once firefighters had put the blaze out one side of the road was reopened at around 1pm, with police directing traffic around the stricken car until recovery could be arranged and the road fully reopened.
It is not thought that anyone was injured in the incident.
The fire service later said that an electrical fault was thought to be to blame.
Reader Jim Geddes sent us this video of the car on fire.
