A GROUP of homeless magazine sellers from Bournemouth are set to walk five miles for a children’s charity to give back to the community.

Several members of staff and vendors from the Big Issue office in Bournemouth Triangle will be taking on the five-mile Big Issue Beach Walk on February 12, from Hengistbury Head to Bournemouth Beach, in aid of Julia’s House children’s hospice.

Carly Redwood, sales and outreach worker at the Big Issue office on Poole Hill, said: “The vendors and I try to do something for charity every year. Last year, we did a skydive for the Big Issue charity and this year they voted to do something for Julia’s House, so we decided on a walk on the beach.”

Carly says that she has previously given talks to Ringwood School students and some of them had already signed up for the Big London Night Walk on March 6, which is in aid of the Big Issue Foundation.

“Some of the students know what the Big Issue is and as they are raising money for Big Issue Foundation through the night walk, it would be good to meet some of the people that the charity helps.”

Carly said that anyone who is interested in taking part in the event, including keen dog walkers and those looking to enjoy the great outdoors, are welcome to come along.
