POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder over an alleged hit-and-run horror last August Bank Holiday weekend.

The drama happened at 4.30am on Sunday August 24 last year at Bournemouth’s Poole Hill.

Two people were taken to hospital at the time with non-life threatening injuries.

Emergency services were told that a number of people had been struck by a vehicle. Police later found a grey BMW 318 estate abandoned on the East Overlicff.

Jordan March, 22, suffered bruising to her body, while Mark Berry, the 51-year-old manager of the Winchester pub, suffered a head wound. He needed 30 stitches to his face and suffered a fractured wrist and injuries to his chin.

Witnesses last summer described the scene as ‘carnage’.

Police later put out an appeal to find Dean Cambage of Bournemouth, who was wanted in relation to the incident. They offered a reward of up to £3,000 and urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.

Detective Inspector Andy Dilworth of Bournemouth CID said Cambage had been arrested in London on Thursday and was helping with enquiries.

He said: “Even though a man has now been arrested in relation to this incident, I would like to reiterate our appeal for information.

“We are keen to hear from any witnesses to the incident, who have not spoken to police yet.”

Anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident 24:83.
