A man has been released on bail after four 'bomb scares' in Bournemouth and Christchurch over the last two days.

The 30-year-old man, who was arrested on Saturday in response to the four bomb hoaxes at premises in Bournemouth and Christchurch, was released on bail on Sunday, pending further enquiries.

A pub and hotel in Christchurch were evacuated on Friday night for the second time in two days after reports of a bomb scare.

Police were called to the Bailey Bridge and Premier Inn on Bailey Drive at 8.52pm.

A witness at the scene said customers had been asked to leave the premises after a “bomb threat”.

Around 50 people were evacuated and some of the Premier Inn guests were seen outside wearing their bedclothes and holding duvets.

People wishing to access the car park were turned away by police.

Dorset Police spokesperson confirmed the force was called to an incident at Bailey Drive on Friday night.

Emergency services were also called to Premier Inn on Christchurch Road at 11.30am on Friday morning with reports of a security alert.

People were evacuated and once the area was declared to be safe, everybody was able to return to the building by 1pm.

It comes a day after the same premises' were evacuated following a similar security alert.

A spokesman for Premier Inn said: "We can confirm that the site has been subject to two hoax calls in recent days.

"In both instances, our staff have acted immediately and contacted police in accordance with our safety and security procedures.

"On both occasions and following a full evacuation, police carried out full security checks and found no cause for concern before allowing people back inside.

"We are co-operating fully with the police and as a result cannot comment any further at this time."
