A TEENAGE boy arrested on suspicion of cocaine dealing at school has been suspended.

The 15-year-old has been ordered out of Poole High School for five days while an investigation is carried out.

Headteacher of the Wimborne Road school, Fan Heafield, said: “We are co-operating fully with the police in their ongoing inquiry.”

The boy was arrested at school on Monday on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. He has since been released on bail, pending further inquiries.

A recent study revealed that hundreds of pupils are caught with drugs every year in schools across the UK.

Between 2011 and 2014, 93 were charged with drugs offences – six of them were primary school pupils.

The Dorset Police Safer Schools and Community Team educates thousands of young people every year about the dangers of drugs.

In the 2013/2014 financial year the team conducted 56 visits to schools and youth groups, delivering the education to 5,633 young people and 144 adults.

Their hour-long presentation centres around the different classes of drugs, common drugs of choice and the social and emotional effects of drug abuse.

Legal highs and the laws surrounding drugs are also covered, as is where to get help and support.

There were a total of 81 ‘youth restorative disposals’ for drugs offences, which is a crime disposal, followed by education and then referral to a drug support agency for continuing support.
