A PLEA to delay resurfacing works in Kinson until after New Road in Parley re-opens is being considered by transport bosses.
Work to plane out the carriageway at Wimborne Road, resurface and lay pedestrian road markings is due to begin Monday. This will be carried out between peak times and would require the use of stop and go boards.
But Independent Bournemouth councillor Ron Whittaker said this will cause further problems for motorists who are currently being diverted through Kinson while New Road is closed.
He has asked for the resurfacing works to be delayed and Bournemouth council is considering this request. A final decision is set to be made later this week.
The three week closure of the A347 New Road started on Monday to enable road repairs and maintenance work on Ensbury Bridge to be carried out.
