WHAT do you buy your doting dad when you become world darts champion? A big shiny new tractor, of course.

Bransgore-based Scott Mitchell, 44, has delivered on the promise he made after winning his prestigious title at Lakeside in January.

After scooping £100,000 in prize money, “Scotty Dog” pledged to buy his ever-supportive dad Jeff a new tractor with some of his winnings.

Two months later and the mighty piece of machinery, which weighs a staggering six-and-a-half tonnes, has been delivered to his father’s farm in Ripley ready for action.

Scott said: “I said to dad before I left for Lakeside if I win this thing we are going to get rid of all our junk tractors and buy a brand new one.

“He has always been so supportive. It would have been impossible for me to have done what I’ve done without him.

“The world championships changed my life and it’s nice that I can help him out too.”

Scott took home the 2015 British Darts Organisation World Professional Championship crown after beating three-time champion Martin Adams seven games to six in the final at Frimley Green in Surrey.

Following on from his nail-biting win, the “big kid from a little village” said he’s still getting used to his new-found fame.

Scott said: “It’s been the craziest seven weeks of my life.

“I seem to shake three people’s hand every time I walk into a garage. It’s nice to know everyone is supporting you.”

Scott, who works as a landscape gardener, said Jeff, 67, was delighted with his new toy.

He said: “He is over the moon. We haven’t had a brand new tractor on the farm since the 1980s when my dad bought me one when I was 18.

“Now we’re all going to be fighting over who gets to use it.”
