A YOUNG woman was killed in a car crash in Dorset last night.
Emergency services were called to the Old Sherborne Road near Dorchester just before 9.45pm following reports of a single vehicle collision.
Sadly the 23-year-old driver, who is believed to have been travelling towards Sherborne at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the woman was from the Dorchester area and her family have been told of her death.
A spokesman from Dorset Police said: “The collision involved one car, a black Nissan Primera, with the sole occupant being a 23-year-old female from the Dorchester area.
“The Nissan Primera had left the carriageway coming to rest within the adjacent hedgerow and it is believed to have been travelling towards Sherborne.
“Sadly the female was pronounced dead at the scene and immediate family have been notified of her death.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
The spokesman added: “Any witnesses to the collision or to the manner of driving of the black Nissan Primera prior to the collision are asked to contact Dorset Police on 101 quoting the incident number 18:426.”
