MUSIC flooded through the streets of Wimborne as a variety of talented performers took to the stage for this year’s Buskers for Cash Bash.

The event saw twelve acts showcase their talents at venues across the town in glorious sunshine.

Ukulele bands, talented teens and rock-blues bands were just some of the performers to take part in this year's event, which is now in its third year.

The acts each performed in the Square, Mill Lane, the Green Man and the Rising Sun.

Then it was down to members of the public to choose the overall winner by purchasing tokens, which they to gave to their favourite performers.

The winner of this year's event - the act with the most tokens by the end of the day- was four-piece instrumental group The Deadeyes. The young rock-blues band Crimson Waters came second, followed by 14-year-old singer and ukulele player Nicole McNally.

Wimborne town crier, Chris Brown, who organised the event said: "It really was a fantastic day and the sunshine helped to put a smile on everyone's face."

The mayor of Wimborne, Cllr Andrew Hampton, said: "It was a great day and we certainly had the weather for it. It really shows the community spirit in the town."

Locals came out to listen to the performers and joined in as they played a variety of classic and modern hits.

Wimborne resident Jo Beach said the event reflected the strong sense of community in the town.

She said: "This is what community is all about. I have lived in Wimborne all my life and I don't think I have ever seen it so alive - we have the food festival, the folk festival, carnivals and at Christmas there is so much going on. There is a really great community spirit here."

The artists that performed during this year's Buskers Bash for Cash were Hannah Kane, The Wimborne Ukulele Band, Dorset Phil, Ladies of the Lawn, Christen Simmonds, Nicole McNally, The Darwins, The Daisie Ukuladies, Jungle Telegraph, Crimson Waters, Diamond Set and The Deadeyes.
