A MAN found lying seriously injured in a Boscombe street has regained consciousness and is recovering in hospital.

Officers plan to interview him as soon as possible but have confirmed that foul play is no longer suspected.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said they are keeping an open mind as to what happened before the man was found in Florence Road at 4.30am on Saturday April 25.

Staff from South Western Ambulance Service found the 48-year-old, from Bournemouth, unconscious on the pavement of Florence Road at around 4.30am on Saturday.

The crew made a call for assistance to officers at Dorset Police who initially believed that the man had been assaulted.

The man was taken to Poole Hospital by ambulance staff following the incident.

During the investigations on scene, at least five police cars and one forensics van attended and officers created a cordon of around 200metres in length, close to the junction with Grantley Road.

Forensics officers could be seen placing markers on the road and were carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

The cordon on Florence Road was lifted by police and was fully re-opened to traffic by around 11am on Saturday morning.

Witnesses and anyone with information should contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 70.
