THE owners of cosmetics firm Lush and the boss of a Bournemouth-based loans company have been named among the richest people in the country.

James Benamor, founder of the Richmond Group – which includes Amigo Loans – was ranked at number 338 in the Sunday Times Magazine Rich List 2015.

The poll calculated him to be worth £305million, up £85m since last year. The company made £43.4m profit in 2013-14.

Mr Benamor announced earlier this year that he was standing down from his post as chief executive of Amigo Loans to pursue other ventures and spend more time with his family. The father-of-five said he would remain on the board in a non-executive position.

He appeared on Channel Four’s The Secret Millionaire in 2008, giving away some of his fortune to residents of Manchester’s Moss Side.

Mark and Mo Constantine, who set up Poole-based Lush, are placed at joint 466th in the survey, with a fortune calculated at £205m – up £1m since last year.

The family has a £202m stake in the business, with 800 stores worldwide whose sales topped £450m in 2013-14.
