POLICE carried out a drugs raid at a residential property in Canford Cliffs this morning.

Officers arrived in the affluent Poole suburb shortly before 10am.

Witnesses said several bags of plants and large lamps were removed from a two-storey flat, located above Select World Travel on Haven Road.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: “Officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address on Haven Road, Canford Cliffs, Poole, at approximately 10am today.

“Police are speaking with a man who is helping them with their enquiries.

“No arrests have been made.”

Local residents and workers said several items were seized from the property and placed into a police van.

One man, who was working nearby, said: “We heard a lot of stamping around and then they started bringing down what looked like marijuana plants and large lamps.”

He added: “It’s not what one expects here in Canford Cliffs.”

Another witness, who also asked not to be named, said he saw officers remove four “large sacks” of what appeared to be plants and bottles from the property.

He added: “They opened the back windows afterwards and the smell was really strong.”
