A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy was one of two people injured when a car collided with two motorbikes and the driver fled the scene.

The youngster was a pillion passenger on a Honda motorcycle when the incident took place at Holes Bay Road in Poole at 6.40pm on Tuesday evening.

The bike, ridden by a 39-year-old man from Amesbury, was the first to be struck by a grey Audi A3, which then collided with a Triumph ridden by a 49-year-old woman from Wimborne.

The car then collided with the Honda for a second time before leaving the scene.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from Poole, called the police a short time after the incident, which took place at the traffic light junction near Asda.

Now officers have appealed for witnesses.

Inspector Matt Butler, of the Dorset Police Traffic Unit, said: "This was a relatively low speed incident and it is fortunate no one was seriously hurt.

"Anyone who witnessed the collisions or the driving of any of the vehicles immediately before the collisions is asked to contact us on the non-emergency number 101."

Witnesses should quote incident number 30:326 when they call 101 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111. Mobile phone tariffs may apply. No arrests have been made.
