ROADWORKS on Wick Lane in Christchurch have been completed three days ahead of schedule.

The road, which was due to remain closed until Sunday, re-opened on Thursday evening around 5.45pm after signs were removed.

A spokesperson for Travel Dorset said: "Thank you for your patience during the Wick Lane closure which has now been lifted three days ahead of schedule."

The work, which caused chaos for hundreds of motorists around the town this week amid the A338 Spur Road rebuild, was carried out at a new building development on the road.

It included the installation of mains water, foul sewer and storm water connections on the busy town centre route.

On Wednesday, work will start on Stony Lane for three days to install a water main. Temporary traffic lights will be in place.
