A MAN has appeared before a district judge following an incident near a Highcliffe primary school on Tuesday morning.

Kevin Pichlmann, 45, was charged with breaching a restraining order, common assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place after he was arrested in Chewton Common Road, which runs behind Highcliffe St Mark School.

Police were called after a man suffered a neck injury, which is reported to have been self-inflicted, and was treated for non life threatening injuries at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

On Thursday, Pichlmann, whose address was given as Herrison Road in Charminster, Dorchester, appeared for the first time at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court.

He was released on conditional bail to attend Dorchester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on November 2 at 10am.
