Here's a round-up of the roadworks taking place across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch this week.

Work started yesterday on Ham Lane, west of the double mini roundabouts near Haskins, to install a new gas main.

This work will be done in two phases - from October 12-20 and then from November 2-December 24.

Both times, the traffic lights will be operated manually 7am-7pm to reduce congestion, with Southern Gas Networks, who are doing the work also told to work weekends.

Roadworks also started yesterday on Alder Road in Poole with temporary multi way traffic signals in operation opposite the junction with Yarmouth Road.

The work being carried out consists of two projects with the first finishing on Sunday, October 18. The work is to restore customer service however no excavation will be carried out.

The second project will finish on Tuesday, October 27, with two concrete chambers being built. The work involves the installation of two eight metre poly ducts.

Delays are being reported in the roadworks area and at Herbert Avenue, with 20 minute travel times being reported this morning.

Bournemouth Water are doing some works at Herbert Avenue to fit a meter but they were not expected to cause any additional delays because the works are not on the road itself.

From Wednesday, temporary traffic lights will placed on a busy road used as a diversion for drivers during the A338 works.

Bournemouth Water are carrying out work to install a water main on Stony Lane, which leads from Christchurch to the Avon Causeway.

The work will take place for three days from Wednesday. It is hoped to be completed by the weekend subject to any unforeseen issues.

There will be temporary traffic lights, operating 24 hours a day, but controlled manually from 7am until 7pm each day.

Work on the A348 Ringwood Road to improve road access to the development near the M&S site will run 19 Oct - 7 December. This work will only be carried out at night, 7pm-7am to reduce likelihood of problems.
