Dorset County Council has revealed its figures the number of cars using the A338 during the roadworks, and how that change has impacted other roads around the town.

Based on 7 day average, 12 hour flows (7am to 7pm), they say that the number of cars using the Spur Road has decreased by just under 10,000. 

The data in full: 

The A338, Spur Road has decreased from 50,200 in October 2014 to 40,800 October 2015.

The B3073, Hurn Road has decreased from 19,600 in October 2014 to 17,400 in October 2015.

Matchams Lane has increased from 3,700 in March* 2014 to 6,650 in October 2015.

Avon Causeway has increased from 7,150 in June* 2014 to 8,600 in October 2015.

Castle Lane East (between Cooper Dean and the Littledown roundabout) has decreased from 37,250 in October 2014 to 35,400 in October 2015

Castle Lane East (between Riverside Avenue and Iford Roundabout) has decreased from 20,900 in October 2014 to 19,550 in October 2015.

Figures were not published for New Road and Longham, although we've asked the council if they have them. They also don't include traffic which uses the road before 7am or after 7pm.

The council used neutral months, marked with a star, for comparison where the data for the same month was unavailable.
