ONE of Wimborne's key road junctions will be resurfaced during three nights of work.

Dorset County Council contractors will spend two nights planing out the old surface at Pye Corner before relaying a new surface on the final night.

Working hours will be from 7pm to 6am on Wednesday, February 10, Thursday, February 11 and Friday, February 12.

The project will finish at 6am on Saturday, February 13.

Councillor Robin Cook said: “We’ve asked that this work is done before the busy summer holidays as the road, in its current condition, poses an increased risk of accidents.

“I would ask residents for their patience for this short period of time. Unfortunately there is no magic wand for these things – it will be noisy while the old surface is removed and drivers will have to plan their journeys more carefully during these three nights.”

Due to the central location of the works, access to Wimborne from the A31 will be via Merley Roundabout, the B3078 and B3073 Oakley Hill/Poole Road.

King Street, Victoria Road, West Street and Julians Road will be access only, with East Street and Pye Lane having a reversal of their one-way directions to ensure drivers can still access the town centre.

Roads will be open during the day and revert back to their usual directional flow.

The nature of the work is weather dependant and will be rearranged if it is too wet or too cold.
