POLICE have been targetting a ‘rat run’ in Ferndown where some motorists have been caught going twice the speed limit.
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team were in Chine Walk on Tuesday following recent requests for help from local residents.
The complaint was that cars were using it as a ‘racetrack’ in an attempt to avoid the Parley traffic light junction.
A post on the team’s Facebook Page said: “We were nothing short of astounded by the number of vehicles exceeding the speed limit, sometimes excessively towards the junction.
“The officers asked for other members of the team to attend who were equally surprised.
“The team stood on this corner with the vehicles coming towards them and felt in danger themselves - 55mph going into this corner is far too fast no matter what your view or opinion.”
The team has said it will continue to attend this location.
