Dorset is set to bask in warm temperatures this weekend as a mini heatwave hits the uK.

However, if you're hoping for wall to wall sunshine you may be disappointed as cloud is set to dominate in Bournemouth for most of Saturday.

And according to the Met Office, there is also the chance of a light shower between 7pm and 9pm tonight.

Temperatures are expected to reach 19C by Sunday with either sunny intervals or sunshine forecast for much of the day.

Bournemouth council is warning the town centre may be busier than normal due to the warm weather bringing in extra visitors.

It tweeted this morning: "Sunny weekend alert! Bournemouth expected to be busier than usual this weekend so please plan ahead for journey times and where to park."

The sunshine will be a marked improvement on the Bank Holiday weather on Monday, which saw rainy spells and cooler temperatures.

Other parts of the south could see highs of up to 25C this weekend. They added it would be gradually becoming warmer in the South West over the next few days, with "mild and frost-free nights" and dry weather throughout.

The average temperature in Dorset for this time of the year is around 16C.
