Christchurch Road will be down to one lane from this morning for up to ten weeks.

Wessex Water will be carrying out work to improve the sewer network for new homes.

One lane will be closed on Christchurch Road with two-way lights controlling the traffic.

Work will be carried out on the footpath but residents sewerage services will be unaffected.

Craig Snowdon, lead design engineer for Wessex Water, said: "Although the majority of the work will take place out of the school holidays there may still be traffic delays."

We appreciate that Christchurch Road is used by people travelling to and from Bournemouth Airport, and we would advise them to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.

"This essential work is part of our ongoing commitment to provide sewer connections for new developments and we apologise for any inconvenience."
