SOUTH Dorset MP and Brexit backer Richard Drax has apologised for incorrect information included on a letter he has sent to constituents.

Mr Drax has sent letters to thousands of residents in the constituency explaining why he thinks they should vote leave in the EU Referendum on June 23.

The letter wrongly stated that postal votes must arrive at Electoral Services by 5pm yesterday. In fact that was the deadline for people who want to apply for a postal vote. Postal voters have up until voting day to send in their ballot papers.

Mr Drax said: "It was a genuine mistake and it was not my intention to mislead anyone, and I hope no-one has been misled. This will not affect the vote."

Mr Drax funded the letter campaign himself. It is not connected with the Conservative Party.
