A MAN was left unconscious after an assault outside a Bournemouth bank yesterday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses said several police vehicles along with an ambulance attended the scene, outside Lloyds Bank in Southbourne Grove, where an area of pavement was cordoned off.

Dorset Police said a 53-year-old local man suffered injuries which were not life threatening.

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said they were called to the scene at around 4.30pm following reports that a person had been assaulted and was unconscious.

The patient was taken to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Police are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
