Shake and Stir Vintage Festival returns on Friday with a bigger and better line-up than ever before. The three-day festival, which takes place on Fishermans Walk, Southbourne Grove and the Green, will feature, music, dancing, classic cars and a host of food and drink stalls. Expect music from the Bournemouth University Big Band, Memphis Belle, The Red Fez Orchestra, The Land Girls and the Rip It Up rock ‘n roll band.  On Sunday visitors will be treated to music from a 50’s inspired band The Junco Shakers, Retro Rita, and the Rockin The joint trio. 

Hundreds of cyclists will take part in the Echo-backed Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride on Sunday.  The event has six circular routes of differing distances from 10 miles, 25, 38, 48, 60 and 100 mile courses to take on. To sign up and help people living with cancer, go to macmillanbikeride.co.uk or call 01202 601705 for entry forms. All routes start from Corfe Mullen recreation ground.

Christchurch Festival takes place between Friday and Sunday. The annual event, which takes place on the Quomps, promises live music from around 15 bands across two stages including the likes of Pronghorn, The Jo Burt Experience and Lady Winwoods Maggot. There will also be dance troupes all over town. Friday tickets are £4, Saturday tickets are £5 and a weekend ticket is £8. Starts from 12.30pm on Saturday and 12pm on Sunday. 

The Route 66 Show rolls into Hurn this weekend. The two-day event takes place on Hurn Bridge show ground next to Bournemouth Airport and promises classic cars, military vehicles, a bike marquee, drive in cinema and food hall. Entry is £10 for adults and £4 for children, under 8s are free. Camping options are also available. 

Sandbanks Beach Volleyball Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday. It is the largest Junior Beach Volleyball Festival in the UK, attracting around 500 competitors over the two days. Entry is free for spectactors. 

Lymington hosts an Italian festival and food market on Sunday. From 10am-6pm there will be 50 Ferraris at the harbour before they convoy to the High Street. There will be music and entertainment for all ages and the chance to indulge in some Mediterranean produce. 

The Sheiling school in Ringwood holds its annual summer festival on Saturday. The day, which promises to be fun for all the family, offers go-karting, a petting zoo, pig racing, face-painting, games, welly-throwing, a bubble workshop and a fire engine which children can climb aboard. There will also be a range of stalls selling a variety of food and drinks, arts, crafts and live music throughout the day. The day runs from 11.30am-4pm, at the school campus in Ashley. There is a small charge for parking, which also includes entry into the raffle, and volunteers from the Verwood Rotary Club will be helping with directions. All proceeds from the day will go towards supporting the school.

A Summer Fair is being held at Christchurch Infant School in Addiscombe Road, Christchurch, from 12pm to 2.30pm on Saturday. There will be books, toys, DVDs, face painting, a barbecue, refreshments, tombola and raffle as well as Bollywood dancing. Entry 50p, children free.

The Broadstone Family Fun Day celebrates its fifth birthday on Sunday.
The event, boasting a donkey derby, car show, fun dog show, arena attractions, stalls and games, is scheduled for a midday start at Broadstone Recreation Ground. Volunteers are needed for marshalling and raffle ticket selling duties. Email broadstonefunday@gmail.com if you can help.
