A WOMAN was rescued after falling from a train onto the tracks at a train station on Monday night.

The incident at Parkstone station in Poole is believed to have happened at around 9.40pm on a South West Trains London Waterloo to Weymouth service.

Fellow passengers reported that prompt action was taken by a member of the public, who alerted the guard to stop the train by using the emergency lever, before it left the station.

The woman was then helped back to safety by the guard and a member of the public.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach Group, which operate South West Trains, said: “A passenger slipped between the train and platform.

“She wasn’t injured and was in fact helped back on to the train and continued their journey.

“Neither the British Transport Police or the ambulance service were required.”

Daily Echo understands that the woman spoke to the guard and explained that she had multiple sclerosis, a condition which can affect a person’s arm and leg movements as well as their balance.
