A DAIRY farmer from west Dorset who makes vodka from milk has swapped the farm yard for a film studio to recreate one of the best loved adverts of all time.

Milk may not be the first ingredient you think of in vodka, but for Jason Barber, from Beaminster, it's proving the key ingredient to success.

Vodka company, Black Cow, have paid homage to the famous 80s 'Accrington Stanley Who Are They?' advert by recreating the advert with a new take.

The original actor, Carl Rice, who starred as a boy in the original 27 years ago, has even reprised his role.

In the new ad Carl, now 36, echoes the same words he once delivered as a boy, but a glass of Black Cow vodka now replaces milk in the older Carl’s hand.

First aired in 1989, the original advert became an instant classic and propelled Accrington Stanley F.C. into the national consciousness. As well as recruiting Carl, Black Cow vodka has also taken out a pitch side hoarding at the club’s Crown Ground.

Paul Archard, co-founder of Black Cow said: “Often when we explain that Black Cow is vodka made from milk the reaction we get is ‘Milk?! Eugh!’ and this made us think of the classic “Accrington Stanley, Who Are They?’ ad.

"Consider this our homage to one of the UK’s great ads that, like us, champions the great taste of milk and the work of British dairy farmers.”

Carl Rice said: “I never imagined that the original ad would go on to make such an impact. 30 years of working in this industry and people still fondly remember it.

"I’ve even been invited up to Accrington to watch the club a few times. Remembering my lines for this Black Cow ad wasn’t exactly hard and the only difference was swapping the milk for milk vodka.”

Produced in Dorset from the milk of grass-fed cows, Black Cow is a vodka with a difference.

Distilled from whey and treated to a secret blending process by dairy farmer Jason Barber, the new vodka has won several awards across the world, as well as fans including artist Damien Hirst and restaurateur Mark Hix.

With recent appearances in Coronation Street and Casualty, Carl Rice shot to glory with the original advert, cementing his and Accrington Stanley’s place in history and in the nation’s hearts.

Situated on England’s west Dorset coast Black Cow produce Pure Milk Vodka made entirely from the milk of grass grazed cows and nothing else.

The company said fresh whole milk makes an exceptionally smooth vodka with a unique creamy character. Pure Milk Vodka is the invention of west Dorset dairy farmer Jason Barber.
