EDDIE Howe revealed he had never been offered a bung during his time in football.

The Daily Telegraph alleged eight current and former Premier League managers "stand accused of receiving bungs for player transfers".

Asked if had ever been offered a bung or a sweetener by an agent to do a deal, Howe said: "Certainly not. The structure at this football club is that I pick the players with the recruitment team and then someone else does the financial deals with the agents and deals with contracts et cetera.

"I am removed from the financial dealings with the football club and it suits me that way. I want to be on the training pitch with the players, that's my only concern."

Quizzed on whether he felt the Telegraph allegations were credible, Howe added: "Who knows? My guess would be it might be historical.

"I think most football clubs would work how we work now. That would be my guess without knowing the inner workings of every team.

"I would imagine now that most managers would be removed from the deals."
