BOURNEMOUTH Wanderers progressed into the second round of the Dorset and Wilts Cup with a resounding 55-17 victory over Dorchester.

Playing down the slope at Surcouf Park in perfect conditions, Wanderers had a narrow lead at half-time.

But, after the restart they put Dorch to the sword, running in no fewer than eight tries, to the hosts’ one. The youthful Bournemouth’s standout performer was centre Maverick Goodchild, while Gareth Hicks was clinical with the boot.

Speaking after the match, Wanderers team manager Tim Robins described the display as an “outstanding team performance” adding how his side had “total dominance in the scrum”.

The win books Bournemouth a spot in the next round up against Oakmeadians, away from home on Saturday, April 15.
