THERE is ‘no intention’ to restart boat operations from Bournemouth Pier after the deaths of two children.
Boat operations were suspended as a precaution on June 7 for police to complete their investigation into the tragic events of May 31.
Last week, the county force concluded that no criminal offences were committed which led to the deaths of 17-year-old Joe Abbess, from Southampton, and 12-year-old Sunnah Khan, from High Wycombe.
However, the council has now confirmed boat operations will not restart.
A spokesperson for BCP Council said: “The operators of the Dorset Belle have relinquished their agreement with Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council in relation to operations from the pier.
“There is no intention to resume any boat operation from the pier at this time.”
The Dorset Belle pleasure boat operated from the pier but ‘permanently discontinued’ its operations after it was impounded and then released by Dorset Police.
The boat was then sold by operator Island Cruises Ltd to WeFerry in Devon.
A spokesperson for the firm said the sale was its ‘only option’ due to 'mounting bills'.
Meanwhile, the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) said it would not be formally investigating the incident as it was understood a vessel was not involved.
