POOLE QUAY was brought alive on Saturday by the first annual Seafoods and Sounds festival.

The festival was created by seven businesses including St Tropez Lounge and Poole Arms.

Hennings Eatery on the quay was filled with many local independent businesses selling products from home-grown honey from the East Dorset Beekeeping Association to fresh fish pulled straight from the sea.

Jeanette Walsh, one of the organisers of the festival spoke about her joy at the turnout, she said: “Seeing people enjoy and hearing music and letting people chill out is lovely. I think it's the community vibe. People are thanking me for putting this on, it’s wonderful.

“All the pubs and restaurants around the Quay are doing their own seafood menu and that's where the seafood comes from.”

A total of 24 musical performances from fourteen acts also showed off their talent to the crowd across five spots along the Quay and Lower High Street.

Passers-by strolled down the Quay whilst admiring some of Dorset’s talented singers such as Helena Mace and Millie Watson, to name a few.

Live performance areas were situated at the Poole Arms, The Sea Sculpture, Fish Shambles, and Custom House outside Poole Museum.

From country folk to indie, there was music to suit everyone’s taste.

For the children, there were workshops dotted across the festival including biscuit making and an arts and crafts stall.

Families could also have joined in with an oyster trail which saw them exploring Poole’s hidden beauty spots such as Old Town, Thames Street, and Market Street in a chance to win a prize which included a one-night stay and breakfast at Hotel Du Vin in Poole.

All proceeds will go towards the RNLI and Waste Not Want.

Jeanette added: “We haven't charged anybody, but we do have two charities we're supporting, which is the RLNI, but the big charity is Waste Not Want Not.

“As an organisation, we have put a drinks Tombola in there to raise more money for them.

“So that's been put on by the organizers, some donations that we will give them and they're getting 100% of that money.”
