Dorchester photographer awarded for musician's album cover

The two collaborated on an award-winning album cover created at Athelhampton House near Dorchester, using one of the venue's striking trees as its focal point.

The project has garnered Andy two accolades: the European Photography Awards in the Commercial Photography Category and the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) South-West and Cotswolds Photographer of the Year in the Advertising and Commercial Category. 

The award-winning album cover project for Nick’s latest release “You and all the Seasons” received high praise from the artist himself.

Nick Capaldi said: "The album is a love letter to my wife, and when I envisioned the cover and sketched a design, I had to speak to Andy.

"We chose Athelhampton House's beautiful Topiary tree as the backdrop, and Andy brought the concept to life brilliantly.

"He's now won two prestigious awards for this work, and it's thoroughly deserved.

"He brought the idea to life in more clarity and taste than I could ever imagine."

With a career spanning over 30 years in the Dorset area, Andy specialises in commercial and lifestyle photography for local businesses and artists. 

Andy, a Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) said: "When Nick showed me the sketch and said he wanted the four seasons represented, I thought how am I going to do that?

"We shot it at Athelhampton House which was stunning and the backdrop was perfect.

"The photo had a lot of meaning behind it, as soon as I took it, I knew there was something special.

"It is a really good feeling to win the award, especially the European one, I think there were 3,300 entries, I think the meaning behind the picture really helped from the judges' point of view.

"It is very special and it means a lot to me and Nick."
