A MAGICAL musical train based on a popular festive film is coming to Swanage this Christmas.

The Polar Express is stopping in Swanage to give fans a taste of what it was like on the magical ride to the North Pole.

Guests can watch and revel in awe at scenes from The Polar Express as the classic festive film comes to life.

The train ride takes one hour, and passengers will be indulged in festive fun as carriages perform festive songs and mimic characters from the film.

And it wouldn’t be The Polar Express without its signature hot chocolate served to passengers, just like in the movie.

The train was a proven success last year, with over 300,000 passengers embarking on the musical adventure at various locations across the country.

Now, the train has added an extra stop in Dorset among 12 other locations across the UK.

Visitors should prepare to be entertained in one of seven carriages, each named after Santa’s reindeer; Rudolph, Blitzen, Comet, Prancer, Vixen, and Cupid.

The wheelchair-accessible carriage will bring the Christmas spirit to life.

Depending on if a child is naughty or nice, Santa is even rumoured to pay a visit and hand out presents to those on their best behaviour.

Gareth Walker, creative director of The Polar Express™ train ride Swanage, said: “The first stage of auditions to find our amazing performers to bring The Polar Express immersive experience to life is well underway and so far, it’s been incredible."

Trevor Parsons, Swanage Railway chairman, said: “The journey so far has been absolutely brilliant, and working with Fused Events and Crosstown Concerts to bring the polar express Train Ride to the Swanage Railway this Christmas… well that’s a gift in itself.

“The Polar Express™ has been a huge success across the country and we’re thrilled to be hosting a fantastic event right here in Dorset.”

The Polar Express will leave Swanage Railway Station every two hours between 12.45pm and 6.45pm where passengers will wrap up warm in their comfiest Christmas pyjamas.

The train will run from Friday, November 17 until Saturday, December 30.
