A SINKHOLE has been causing traffic chaos for drivers in Swanage.

Taunton Road is closed until further notice while repairs are underway.

The sinkhole first appeared on March 7.

Dorset Council is aware of the issue and Wessex Water has been informed to investigate the damage.

A Dorset Council spokesperson said: “Earlier this afternoon, our crew attended the sinkhole and closed Taunton Road to vehicles with a locally signed diversion in place.

“We have reported the issue to Wessex Water and they will be attending the site to investigate further and make the necessary arrangements for repair.”

This comes after a large sinkhole disrupted buses and cars in Bournemouth Town Centre.

The cause of the Bournemouth sinkhole was a burst water main which took days to repair.
