A BUSY road in Bournemouth will be closed for five days in March.

Branksome Wood Road will be closed to all vehicles while the BCP Council is carrying out highway improvement works.

Between March 11 and March 14, 2024, the road will be closed from its junction with Surrey Road to its junction with Coy Pond Road.

Full emergency services access will be continued, and access to properties will be maintained depending on on-site safety.

There is a planned diversion via Branksome Wood Road, Queens Road and Surrey Road.

BCP Council said: “These arrangements may be amended/extended should work overrun or weather conditions delay operations; restrictions may be in effect under this Notice for up to 5 days and extended by a further Notice or Order.

“The council regrets any inconvenience to the public caused by this temporary prohibition.”

Bournemouth Echo: Branksome Wood Road closure

A message on the MoreBus website said that buses will divert via Wroxham Road, Cromer Road, Poole Road, Poole Hill, The Triangle, Avenue Road, and Bourne Avenue.

The bus company said: "Due to the diversion, buses will arrive at schools late. Unfortunately, we have been unable to gain permission to trim any trees on a more direct diversion route.

"Buses will NOT serve these stops: Railway Arches, Gordon Road, Coy Garden Court, Elm Gardens, and Bournemouth Wood Gardens."
