A MAN who drove at 124mph down a main road has been told he behaved “incredibly recklessly”.

Benjamin Vincent was caught by officers who were carrying out speed checks at Woodbine Hill on the A303.

Vincent, 22 and of The Corner in Shroton near Blandford, was driving his BMW at 124mph in a 70mph zone.

He was stopped and reported to court following the incident on March 25 last year.

The defendant appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 7, having pled guilty to a charge of speeding.

He was fined £432, ordered to pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £620 and a victim surcharge of £173.

He was also given a 42 day driving disqualification.

PC Paul Davis of the Roads Policing Unit said: “This was incredibly reckless behaviour which could have caused a fatal collision on our roads.

“I hope Vincent spends his disqualification period re-evaluating his behaviour and the potential consequences of such poor driving.”
