IT SEEMS grossly unfair that if you own a second home and which you regularly visit but in our case you cannot let out to have to pay double council tax.
When we purchased our flat 16 years ago we only paid half council tax but were quite happy to pay the full amount when it was increased a good few years ago.
We probably spend a quarter of the year at our flat which members of the family also use. We spend money locally and support local events.
When we purchased in 2008 no one locally wanted to buy and it would probably be the same now if we tried to sell.
So are the Government barking up the wrong tree thinking that more properties will became available for the locals to purchase by bringing in this new law?
