POLICE and ambulance have responded to a crash on a West Cliff Road junction in which the driver fled the scene. 

Police have responded to a crash between a motorbike and a car at 4.56pm at the junction between West Overcliff Drive, West Cliff Road, and Clarendon Road. 

The rider was hit off their bike at the junction with the car having fled the scene. 

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Called at 4.56pm to report of a collision in Clarendon Road in Bournemouth Officers in attendance with ambulance service It is not clear whether any road closures are in place."

Clarendon road has been partially closed while cones have been placed on West Cliff Road around the crash site. 

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a large smash with cars at the Clarendon Road and West Overcliff Drive junctions having watched the incident. 

Local resident, Chris Pearson, said: "I just heard the impact, I was getting in my car and the next thing I knew, the bloke who hit the girl on the bike was driving past. 

"He was smoking a cigarette and he was speeding off. They sped off up [Clarendon Road] so they obviously didn't think of stopping. Just drove away."
