EMERGENCY works are taking place after a ‘sinkhole’ appeared in a road in Parley.

A large crack in the road appeared at Heathlands Avenue in West Parley on Monday, April 8.

West Parley Parish Council alerted Dorset Council to the hazard.

The sinkhole is reportedly 4cm to 6cm deep.

A spokesperson for Dorset Council said: "The parish council reported the matter to us this afternoon, and we have erected barriers and signs to divert motorists around the location, but please do take care.

“A highways engineer will visit the site to investigate further.

"For urgent matters on the highway, please call the council on 01305 221020.

“For less urgent issues, which may take up to 10 days to be responded to, please use our online form.”

It is unknown when the situation will be resolved.
