Bournemouth Water has voiced its concerns about the dangers of Right to Swim events.

The company said they have been made aware that a potential 'Right to'Swim' protest' may be held at some locations across the country on Sunday, April 28.

The national campaign encourages people to swim in their local bodies of open water, including lakes and reservoirs.

The group has issued a reminder to local residents of why swimming is not allowed in their reservoirs and the dangers they pose.

A Bournemouth Water spokesperson said:

“We recognise the right to protest peacefully, however we need to stress the reason we don’t allow swimming at our reservoirs and lakes is because it is very dangerous.

“Our reservoirs are active operational sites supplying water to our region. They contain deep, cold water and hidden hazards like strong currents below the surface.”
