A SCHOOL for disabled children has applied for planning permission to keep its extended teaching space.

Diverse Abilities' Langside School in Poole has been using a portacabin for extra teaching space which is said to be ‘is urgently required.’

The charity has submitted a retrospective planning application to keep the portacabin for a period 260 weeks.

Langside School is part of the Diverse Abilities group and hosts a range of services for adults and children with special requirements.

The temporary portacabin building is located at the rear of the current school site.

The proposed building is linked to the existing portacabin buildings, which have been on site since 2020.

An application prepared by Portakabin on behalf of the school reads: “The additional space is urgently required so that Langside School can operate in a safe environment for both the children and staff.

“The building was installed quickly, enabling Langside School to provide the required teaching space to meet the urgent demand.

"It can also be easily removed from the site with little impact when the temporary accommodation is not required in the future.”

A decision is yet to be made on the planning application by BCP Council.
