MACMILLAN Dorset bike ride is once again gearing to make its return in 2024 to help fight against cancer. 

Scheduled for July 7, Macmillan Dorset bike ride will celebrate its 36th year as it draws in hundreds of riders. 

Sponsored by Sunseeker International for 19 years, the ride begins at Corfe Mullen and offers either 28, 48, or 63 mile routes to complete. 

Bryan Jones, marketing manager at Sunseeker International, said: "As long-time supporters of the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride, we're thrilled to once again rally our employees and community to join this meaningful cause.

"It's not just about the ride; it's about coming together to make a difference."

Riders can participate individually or as part of the 'Team Challenge' in which riders can do the challenge with family or friends as part of a team. 

As part of the team challenge, Macmillan is also encourage Dorset businesses to sign up and support the event. 

If one registers a team name during the entry process, all participants can expect free team photos, completion medals, team certificates and top fundraiser prizes, which Macmillian states adds 'an extra layer of motivation to an already fulfilling endeavour.'

Peter Smith-Nicholls, ride organiser, said: "The Dorset Bike Ride embodies the spirit of unity and purpose.

"By rallying people across Dorset, we're not only raising crucial funds for Macmillan Cancer Support but also fostering a sense of solidarity and community spirit in our fight against cancer."

Macmillian Cancer Support offers vital emotional, physical, and financial assistance to those grappling with the challenges of cancer. 

The charity has said by entering the race, 'everyone can play a pivotal role in ensuring that no one faces cancer alone'.

Individuals, family, and friends or businesses alike are encouraged to register on Macmillan's website. 

Upon registration, everyone gains access to resources for fundraising including a quick and easy way to create a JustGiving page. 

2023 saw near 400 cyclists take part with £35,000 raised for the charity. 

The event was founded in 1989 by Peter and takes riders along the Stour Valley past several Dorset landmarks.
