I began playing 1vs100 on LIVE two weeks ago with my girlfriend and my friend sat round the telly each taking turns to play on my friend's profile. The entire sign in process was painless and was spent mainly watching his avatar loitering around in the virtual lobby. Very nice and very clever.

What we quickly found is that like most pub quizzes, it's better having more than one person in the room to help you out. Between the three of us we all managed to answer most of the questions on the live show.

What is the live show you ask? Well there are two types of show that go out at the moment. Yes they "go out" like a live broadcast. If you switch on your 360 tonight you will find the live show starts at 7.30pm and continues to 9.30pm. It has a presenter who doesn't always seem to have a matching voice, (we'll put that down to technical issues) and it has real prizes.

Prizes come in the form of Microsoft Points so you can buy games, addons or films through the marketplace. You can also win real world items like a telly.

The other type of live show is on every other night where you can practice and build your score up throughout a plethora of show types. European, sports, quotes, community written and some others I forget.

You will spend most of your time in the crowd. This is where anyone who isn't the chosen 1 or the 100 will sit for the round and answer the questions in hope that they will become part of the 100. Only then does it get interesting and put you in with a chance of winning anything.

The experience is really like no other. You are online playing against real people for real prizes. I can't think of anything that matches up to this so far in the videogaming world. It's also so simple - press a button to answer a question.

I even got so excited to a point that I fell into a horrible trap obviously set by the quizmaster, thankfully I can't remember what embarrassing answer I chose so we'll move on.

What works? Pretty much everything. I love the competition and I have found myself tuning in to play mostly on the live shows. In the first week I played a couple of regular weekday shows to build my score up but quickly lost interest after I played the second live show.

Now I know I'm probably not being very fair, but I considered myself to be doing pretty well in answering questions and building up a good score but I did not find myself in the mob at all during the two hour show. I guess it's difficult considering there are somewhere in the region of 40,000 to 70,000 people online and only 100 can get in the mob at one point.

Still this is the key to the show. There were some very simple questions coming through and both the 1 and the 100 were demonstrating no basic general knowledge skills at all. So how did they get into the mob?

Turns out it's still a bit of a mystery. Claims are it's a bit random and may have something to do with any of the scoring types they throw at you each round. How many questions you have answered correctly in a row. How many questions you have answered correctly overall.

I did amuse myself animating my avatar and egging on the 1 to keep going until they knocked out the 100. I remember one person last week who got so close, there were about 20 left. They lost it all and the final few in the mob split their winnings. So harsh!

I am losing interest but I will be on tonight. I encourage you all to do the same as it is addictive but once you realise you're only going to get into the 100 due to fluke you may find yourself picking up Call of Duty again.
