Special Mention: Halo 3: ODST is out Tuesday and GAME on Commercial Road are doing a Midnight Launch for the release on Monday night / Tuesday morning.

Need for Speed: Shift is the clear winner this week providing an excellent and well paced challenge for fans of previous NFS games and others alike. Personally I thought the franchise was dying and my only real love of racing games was for Project Gotham. The developers of the latest Need for Speed have stepped up their game and come out with a worthy title, possibly the best in the franchise. I'm up to Tier 4 in the game and have not yet wanted to put the controller down, after racing round London, Brands Hatch, the lovely Nürburgring and Dakota to name a few. Don't even get me started on those cars and the jiggery pokery you can get up to with them. Petrol heads will delight. Get this game.

Quick switch to the latest Kirby. Why is it number 2 for me? Because I adore Kirby titles and while I know little of this one it is something that I just find myself buying out of necessity. There isn't a bad Kirby platform title.

WET gets pushed to number three because I just find myself playing Need for Speed more. Understand that WET is fantastic if a tad repetitive, and it shall get the required attention once NFS has been completely ruled by my good self. Kudos to Bethesda (yes the Fallout chaps) for not going down the big boobed discriminatory female role and actually making a decent heroine for once. If like me you love Ninja Gaiden and the like then you will love this. It's well made, fun to play and full of guts.

Mmmm Katamari. Forever you have a place in my heart. Unfortunately I do not have a PS3 so I shan't be playing this. It gets fourth place this week because the game is so completely insane yet so completely right. A lot of grand effort has gone into making a worthy Katamari game for the PS3 and judging by the previews and the videos it is definitely worth picking up for the price alone.

Resident Evil 5 was amazing on the consoles and has just been released on the PC in boxed form this week. It seems to be priced at £17.99 on Amazon, so at that price you have no excuse not to be picking it up if you haven't played it yet! Also comes complete with Games for Windows Live integration so you can rack up some achievements too if you're that way inclined.

I'd say something about Heroes over Europe but I'm not going to.

If you're a 360 fan and holding out until the big ODST release on tuesday then I really don't blame you. Remember to check with wherever you've preordered it from to make sure your copy is still reserved and that you can collect it when it comes out. The amount of times I've seen people come into the shop thinking they can take their reserved copy out only to realise they don't have one...

ODST is worth the hype and you Halo fans are in for a right treat. With an engrossing story-line, neat play mechanics and an awesome new multiplayer mode you will be playing this one for months!

Keep pressing those buttons!
